
The Jamestown University Jimmies were at home for the first time this season at Charlotte and Gordon Hansen Stadium taking on the Concordia University Bulldogs in GPAC play.
The Jimmies come into the game 0-2 losing to VCSU and Midland to start the season. But that didn’t deter Ty Monson and the offense from coming out swinging. Monson connected with receiver Ryan Collins on a 9-yard pass to go 7-0 with 7:55 remaining in the first quarter. Concordia would respond with their own 6-play, 55-yard touchdown drive that was capped off on a 1-yard run from the cowbell Devin Ziegler making it 7-7 with 5:17 in the first quarter.
Jamestown would respond again with 14:01 left in the 2nd quarter Ty Monson would pass to Colton Schumacher for 14 yards and a touchdown to go up 14-7. The Jimmies being opportunistic would get a field goal with 3 seconds left on the clock before halftime allowing them to go up 17-7 at halftime.
Concordia would come out swinging in the 2nd half and in particular Devin Ziegler has he finished on the day with 24 carries for 124 yards and 3 touchdowns. He would score first in the 2nd half on a 5-yard touchdown run, but the pat attempt would be missed making the score 17-13 with 12:06 left in the 3rd quarter. Jamestown would respond with a 27-yard made field goal from Aanon Peterson on a 10-play, 65-yard drive. 20-13 was the score with 6:05 remaining in the 3rd quarter. DJ McGarvie for Concordia would score on a QB sneak, pat attempt good, ball game tied at 20 a piece with 4:13 left in the 3rd quarter.
With 5:09 left in the game, the Jimmies would go up 23-20 thanks to a 25-yard field goal from Peterson. This resulted from a 6-play, 7-yard drive that would eat up 3 minutes and 51 seconds off the clock. Concordia would have a response Devin Ziegler would break off a 21-yard touchdown run to go up 27-23 with 1:41 remaining in the game. Jamestown could not respond with a score and that would be your final.
Monson finished with 32-51, 343 passing yards, 2 touchdowns. Micah Madyun had 11 catches for 81 yards. Isaiah Roebuck finished with 6 catches for 80 yards. Ryan Collins had 6 catches for 63 yards and a touchdown. Colton Schumacher had 3 catches for 44 yards and a touchdown. Zachariah Hammet was the leading rusher with 14 carries for 27 yards.
The Jamestown Jimmies are on the road next week in Hastings, Nebraska. Kick-off is set for 1 pm.
