Veterans Service Presentation March 17 in Jamestown

JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The public is invited to attend the free presentation “Accessing Veteran Benefits” by David Bratton, Stutsman County Veterans Service officer. The program begins at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 17, at the Stutsman County Courthouse State Historic Site, 504 3rd Ave. SE, Jamestown. Bratton will discuss how the Stutsman County Veterans Service Office can help veterans access local, state, and federal benefits.

Built in 1883, the historic Stutsman County Courthouse is home to a unique hands-on exhibit about civics and local government. It is North Dakota’s oldest surviving courthouse and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Visitors can explore the courtroom, county offices, and the basement jail; learn about American citizenship where it happened, in a community’s local courthouse; discover historical office technology; and witness historic preservation in action as restoration of the courthouse has been ongoing since the 1990s.

The Stutsman County Courthouse is a state historic site managed by the State Historical Society of North Dakota. It is open Wednesday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and additional hours by appointment during the winter months.
