Devils Lake, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)—The Carrington boys basketball team played with the second rated Firebirds for 2.5 quarters but couldn’t keep up down the stretch in the end falling 89-55. The Cards trailed by only 3 points with 4:35 to play in the third quarter at 46-43 before the Firebirds pulled away. Carrington trailed 41-35 at halftime, keeping it close with hot first half shooting including 5 made three pointers. Devils Lake also had the three ball going, connecting on 8 first half triples and ended the night with 16 overall. The Firebirds outscored the Cards 43-12 in the final 12:30 of the contest to make a very competitive game turn into a rout late.

Carrington had 4 players score in double figures paced by Taylen Mehring with 12 points (4-3 pointers), Grady Idland (11), and 10 each from Josh Bickett and Maddox McIlonie. The Firebirds were paced by Parker Brodina with a game high 24 points and Max Palmer added 21 points (6-3 pointers). The Firebirds end the regular season at 20-1 overall and Carrington will end with a 12-9 regular season. The Cards will face Four Winds in the first round of the region 2 tournament next Monday.
