VALLEY CITY, ND  (NewsDakota.com)  An 11-run eruption in the sixth and seventh sent the Hi-Liner baseball team rolling to it’s first win of the season in a 16-5 bashing of Grand Forks Central Tuesday.

With the game tied at 5-5 after five, Valley City exploded for a seven-run sixth, highlighted by a bases-clearing double by Jack Samuelson that plated three runs, turning a then 7-5 lead into a five-run edge.

Valley City tacked in in the seventh in the biggest way possible, a Leighton Hendrickson grand slam over the left field wall that notched the final score.

While the bats were doing their work, Luke Praska was doing his on the bump.  Praska entered to start the third inning, and pitched four innings of four-hit baseball, allowing one run that was unearned, to earn the win.

Valley City is now 2-12 in EDC play, and three points outside of an EDC tournament berth.  They are 1-10 overall, and face Devils Lake at home Friday.
