BISMARCK – Julia Skari was the best athlete through the regular season for Jamestown Blue Jay Track & Field and proved to be so again at state.
Skari finished in the top three of both hurdles races at the NDHSAA Class A State Track & Field Championships, which concluded Saturday at the MDU Resources Community Bowl.
Skari, a senior, was second in the 100m hurdles final at 14.76 seconds, just 0.38 behind winner Kate Laqua of Fargo Davies. Skari was third in the 300m hurdles final at 45.35 seconds. She won both events five times during the regular season and also won both events in the West Region meet.
There were three other top 10 finishes for the Blue Jays. The boys 4×400 relay team of Gradin Thorlakson, Noah Lynch, Aiden Skari and Brady Harty was fourth at 3:24.20. Layna Hoffer cleared five feet, one inch to finish seventh in the girls high jump. The boys 4×800 relay team finished ninth at 8:18.31. It included Iddi Ramadhani, Micah Stoudt, Harty, and Heath Heupel.
