MANDAN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Senator John Hoeven issued the following statement in recognition of Memorial Day, honoring those service members who lost their lives in defense of the nation. Senator Hoeven provided remarks during the Memorial Day Ceremony at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery (NDVC) south of Mandan.
“On this Memorial Day, we come together as North Dakotans—and as Americans—to honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our nation. We remember their courage, their dedication, and the profound sacrifice they made to defend our freedoms,” said Hoeven. “We also stand with the families and loved ones they left behind, offering our deepest gratitude and support. The freedoms we enjoy today are made possible by those who answered the call to protect this great country. May we honor their memory not just today, but every day, through our gratitude and the way we live our lives.”
In his role on the Senate Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Appropriations Committee, Hoeven continues to champion North Dakota’s federal, state, and tribal veterans cemeteries. This includes his work to improve the NDVC and to expand and develop new facilities at Fargo National Cemetery, ensuring veterans and their families receive the recognition they have rightfully earned.
