VALLEY CITY, N.D. – The City of Valley City advises all residents, property owners, and contractors that an individual or company performing work on any construction, repair, improvement, alteration, dismantling, or demolition project with a value of more than $1,000.00 must be licensed by the City of Valley City.

Local licensing helps protect consumers and maintain accountability by ensuring that contractors working within the City’s jurisdiction are licensed with the State of North Dakota and have sufficient liability insurance to pay for damages and substandard work. Licensed contractors are also more likely to be familiar with City building and zoning codes, ensuring that projects are completed legally and correctly.

Before hiring a contractor, residents and property owners are encouraged to: Request proof of licensing or review the City’s list of licensed contractors on the city website available in the attachment below marked review contractor licensing.
