Oakes, ND (NewsDakota.com) – A game that appeared to be one of the quickest of the season became one of the longest of the season as a 12 inning barn burner would commence. Oakes Post 36 would end up walking off LaMoure Post 19 in the 12th inning with a final score of 2-1.
The game was a pitchers dual from the start as Michael Hoistad and Mason Warcken pitched lights out to begin the game. LaMoure would end up striking first as Gunner Thielges would walk aboard. He’d steal 2nd then go to 3rd after a single by Colby Thielges. Gunner would then come home on a Owen Lesko sac fly to make it 1-0. Oakes would immediately respond in the bottom of the 3rd as Christ Titus would be hit by a pitch advance to 2nd on a wild pitch and get to 3rd on a fielders choice. He would then be apart of a double steal with Harry Neustal to tie the game at 1-1 through 3 innings. Warcken and Hoistad would lock in striking out a multitude of batters.
The next Oakes threat would be in the 7th as they’d load the bases off of 2 walks and 1 hit with 2 outs before Warcken struck out the next 2 batters ending the inning and ending his night as Owen Lesko would take over from then on. LaMoure would threaten one last time in the 9th inning as they’d get 2 on with 1 out to chase Hoistad. Jace Fyre would take over, get another out before walking the bases loaded before getting the final out. After that neither team was able to get much going as Fyre would strike out the side in the 10th, face the minimum in the 11th, and go 1-2-3 in the 12th. Lesko would allow a hit and walk a man intentionally in the 10th but the threat was handled easily and he’d go 1-2-3 in the 11th.
Oakes would end it in the 12th. Titus and Hoistad would walk aboard to start the inning. Lesko would then strike out Zade Heier to get out #1. Neustal would then walk and bring up Tristan Peterson. LaMoure would put their center fielder into the infield but Peterson would then hit it to center to take the 2-1 win.
The winning pitcher was Jace Fyre (3.2 IP, 0 H, 2 BB, 3 K, 0 R) who relieved Michael Hoistad (8.1 IP, 7 H, 1 BB, 8 K, 1 R, 1 ER). The losing pitcher was Owen Lesko (4.1 IP, 4 H, 4 BB, 7 K, 1 R, 1 ER) who relieved Mason Warcken (7.0 IP, 2 H, 7 BB, 14 K, 1 R, 1 ER).
