JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Police Department uses Utility body-worn cameras, in-car cameras and license plate reader.
Now as part of the software that manages their video, they can allow citizens to register their camera systems with the police department. This DOES NOT give them access to your cameras. What is does do, is allow them to see where cameras are located within the city. If a crime or other incident occurs that may have been caught by your cameras, the police can then message you with the contact information you provide to see if video of the incident exists. You have the choice whether to share that information with investigating officers or not.
You can register your cameras by visiting the Register Cameras section of the City of Jamestown website. Go to https://jamestownnd.gov/ then click on Departments/Public Safety/Police/Register Cameras and either use the Register Cameras link or scan the QR code.
