JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Community Foundation (JCF) recently awarded a $1,000 grant to Bio Girls of Jamestown towards their upcoming programming and supply needs for the next class of girls from all elementary grades 2-6 in the Jamestown area.
Bio Girls (Beautiful Inside and Out) is an organization that helps to improve the mental health and self-esteem of adolescent girls through empowerment of self and connection with others. It is a self-confidence building program which includes volunteer non-parent mentors for the girls in the program, research-backed lessons and hands-on activities, plus non-competitive physical activity, a community service project for each session, and participation in a 5K run! Bio Girls also enhances the lives of the 12 adults who volunteer for the sessions. If you know of a girl who might be interested in the program, have them e-mail jamestown.nd@biogirls.org or go to their Facebook page at www.Facebook.com/ BIOGIRLSJamestownnd. Scholarships and referrals are available to reach the most at risk/disadvantaged.
