JAMESTOWN – After six games of frustration, Jamestown Jimmies ACHA D1 Women’s Hockey at last can celebrate.

Emma Durand scored her first collegiate goal on the power play at 1:39 of overtime Monday as the Jimmies earned their first win of the season, 4-3 over Arizona State at Wilson Arena.

Jamestown (1-6-0-0) was given the player advantage just six seconds into the extra period when the Sun Devils’ Samantha Murphy was given a tripping penalty.  Durand took a pass from Bethany Wielgosh and placed a snap shot past ASU goalie Mya Glaister into the upper left corner.  Mackenzie Couling had the secondary assist.

Arizona State (4-1-1-1) had trailed 3-1 heading into the third period, but Kyly Labolt scored at 9:53 before Breanne Powell tied the game with her second goal of the day with just 2:20 remaining.

UJ built a 3-1 lead through one period.  Rebekah Nickisch scored her first for the Jimmies at 4:31, set up by Wielgosh.

Jayden Baker doubled the lead only 53 seconds later from a Samantha Beaulac assist.

Powell scored her first of the game on the power play for Arizona State at 14:11, but Mallory Docktor scored her first for Jamestown, unassisted, just 36 seconds later.

The Jimmies had a 46-33 shot advantage and were 1-for-3 on the power play.  ASU was 1-for-5.

The Jimmies will host Assiniboine College in an exhibition Saturday at 3:00 PM at Wilson Arena.
