
JAMESTOWN – Wednesday, the top-ranked ACHA Division 1 men’s hockey team had their way. On Thursday, the Jimmies made sure they didn’t.
Sixth-ranked Jamestown came back from an early deficit with two goals by Carson Brown and two assists by Brad Fortin to defeat UNLV Thursday 4-1 at Wilson Arena.
UNLV (7-4-0-0), who had defeated Jamestown 6-2 on Wednesday, scored first from Caleb Strong at 15:21 of the first period.
UJ (9-4-1-0) evened the game on Brown’s first goal of the game and fifth this season, assisted by Fortin and James Hooton, at 6:52 of the second period.
Fortin set up the first of the season for Kaleb Percival, the goal that turned out to be the game-winner, at 18:27 of period two.
The Jimmies held on to their 2-1 lead until Brown scored again, assisted by Jordan Baranesky, at 17:51 on the third period. Matthew McIntyre scored his second of the campaign into an empty net with 24 seconds remaining.
Jamestown goalie Brandon Weare made 25 saves. Jamestown had 36 shots to UNLV’s 26. The Jimmies were 0-for-6 on the power play while UNLV was 0-for-1.
The Jimmies will face 12th-ranked UMary at the Starion Sports Complex in Mandan at 7:00 PM on Saturday.
