BISMARCK, N.D. (PPR) – The North Dakota State Board of Higher Education has chosen Dr. Allen Burgad as the interim president of Valley City State University.

Burgad will take over on an interim basis, due to the departure of president Dr. Allen LaFave.

Kevin Black chairs the State Board of Higher Education.

Burgad is the dean of the Education Department at Valley City State University.

Earlier this year, the South Dakota Board of Regents announced the appointment of Dr. Alan LaFave as Northern State University’s next president. LaFave, will assume the presidency in January of 2026. Northern State is located in Aberdeen, South Dakota.
