VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Valley City Hi-Lites dance team kicked off their competition season on December 6 by hosting their first home invitational. The event brought together six area high school teams and one college team for a full day of performances across multiple styles, including Pom, High Kick, Jazz, and Hip Hop. The invite also featured four solo divisions: mini, youth, junior, and senior.

The Hi-Lites earned strong early-season results, placing second in both High Kick and Hip Hop, and securing third place in Jazz. The team also saw success in the solo divisions, with three dancers earning top placements. Taylor Spanier finished fourth in the Junior Solo division, while seniors Claire Shanenko and Hailley Grenz placed fourth and third, respectively, in the Senior Solo division.

The Hi-Lites will continue their season on the road, competing at the West Fargo Invite on December 13, Legacy High School in Bismarck on December 20 and Jamestown High School on January 10th .
