
MARYLAND HEIGHTS, OH – Jamestown Jimmies ACHA Division 2 Women’s Hockey gave a very good effort Sunday, but fell short.
Liberty, the top seed in the East, defeated the Jimmies, the West’s fourth seed, 5-2 in the ACHA Championships at the Centene Community Ice Center.
Jamestown (11-10-1-0) was even after one period. Liberty (20-2-0-0) scored the first two goals, by Brylie Beddell at 1:02 and Sabrina Honeycutt at 16:12.
Only 12 seconds later, Leah Amsler put Jamestown on the board. Kaydence Thorsteinson evened the game, assisted by Rylee Gee, with 55 seconds to go in the first period.
Liberty scored twice in less than a minute in the second period to take control of the game. Calissa Klein scored for the Flames at 5:40 and Pimsiri Wilhelmy added a power play goal at 6:29.
Guin Donovan scored the game’s final goal for LU at 5:49 on the third period.
Jamestown was outshot 30-23. Jimmies’ goalie Makenzie Gibson made 25 saves.
UJ will play in the consolation round Monday against St. Thomas.
