JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) Dr. Kyra Whitehead, Writing Center Director at the University of Jamestown is inviting the public to attend an upcoming event on Monday, April 20, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. at the University of Jamestown’s DeNault Auditorium in the Reiland Fine Arts Center.
The program, titled “The Curious Appeal of the World’s Most Terrifying Murderers,” features renowned criminologist and serial killer expert Dr. Scott Bonn. During this 90-minute presentation, Dr. Bonn offers insight into the psychology of some of the world’s most notorious serial killers, including Dennis Rader (BTK), David Berkowitz (Son of Sam), and Jeffrey Dahmer. He also discusses more recent cases, such as the alleged Long Island Serial Killer, and shares how he developed a profile years before the suspect was identified.
In addition to examining the psychological motivations behind these crimes, Dr. Bonn explores why serial killers are able to evade capture and how they often blend into society. Drawing from his own experiences interacting with and studying these individuals, he provides a unique perspective on the nature of serial offenders. The presentation also addresses the public’s fascination with true crime and includes a live Q&A session.
Admission is free, but tickets are required. Tickets can be obtained by contacting the University of Jamestown Box Office at (701) 252-3467 ext. 5435 or by visiting Reiland Fine Arts Center Room 130.
