
ROLLA, MO – An uphill climb continues for Jamestown Jimmies Men’s Volleyball.
UJ remained winless in Great Lakes Valley Conference matches and winless in conference sets Friday with a loss to Missouri S&T 25-13, 25-15, 25-23 at the Gale Bullman Multi-Purpose Building.
Jamestown (6-16, 0-5 GLVC) was held to an .095 hitting percentage while Missouri S&T (9-5, 3-2) hit .330.
Nate Meyer had 13 kills and 6 digs for the Miners. Aaron Salade had 11 kills.
Chase Hawkinson scored 10 kills for Jamestown. Cohen Johnson had four total blocks. Ladarius Williams had nine digs and six kills. Rowan Shaughnessy had 18 set assists for the Jimmies.
Jamestown was down just 6-4 in the first set before Missouri S&T ran off the next 12 points, which included three kills by Camden Seaver.
The Miners started the second set with a 5-0 lead and had two four-point runs later in the set.
Hawkinson scored three kills in a 6-1 run that put Jamestown up 6-3 in the third set. Hawkinson killed again for a 10-8 UJ lead, but Missouri S&T scored the next five. The Miners led as much as 19-14, but a kill by Hawkinson cut the lead to 21-19 and an attack error made the score 21-20. Williams killed for Jamestown to save a match point at 24-23, but a service error on the next point wrapped up the match for the Miners.
Jamestown will play at Missouri S&T again on Saturday.
