ROLLA, MO – Jamestown Jimmies Men’s Volleyball remains on the search for something better.

The Jimmies remained winless and without a set win in Great Lakes Valley Conference play Saturday with a loss to Missouri S&T 25-23, 25-16, 25-13 at the Gale Bullman Multi-Purpose Building.

Missouri S&T (10-5, 5-2 GLVC) was remarkably efficient with their attack, hitting .667, including .750 in each of the final two sets.  Nate Meyer had 12 kills, three aces and two total blocks for the Miners.  Erik Giezycki had 36 set assists.

Chase Hawkinson led the Jimmies (6-17, 0-6) with 18 kills.  Ethan Carroll served two aces.  Jamestown hit for a .299 percentage.

That percentage for UJ was .480 in the first set, when the Jimmies came closest to taking a win.  Kills by Ladarius Williams and Hawkinson were part of a three-point run that gave Jamestown a 13-11 lead.  Hawkinson killed for a 22-21 UJ advantage, but a kill by the Miners’ Caleb Rohlwing and two by Caden Seaver gave the home team two set points.  Hawkinson saved one with a kill, but a service error then clinched the set for Missouri S&T.

In the second set, Jamestown led early 2-1, then was down by four.  Cohen Johnson killed to bring the Jimmies within 10-7 before Missouri S&T scored the next four.  UJ wasn’t closer than six for the rest of the set.

Carroll served an ace for an 8-7 Jimmie lead in the third set before Missouri S&T scored six straight points on a kill by Aaron Salade, two aces by Zachary Carff, another kill by Salade and two kills by Nate Meyer.  Johnson later killed for Jamestown to bring the Jimmies within 14-10, but Missouri S&T scored 10 of the next 11 points.

Jamestown will play Maryville University on Friday in St. Louis, Missouri.
