JAMESTOWN – Longtime Jamestown Blue Jays Swimming & Diving Head Coach Ben Smith has announced his resignation.

Smith was head coach of both JHS programs for 15 seasons and had been involved with the programs for 18 seasons.

He was named as this past season’s boys state Coach of the Year as the Blue Jays took third in the state meet.  Smith also has been named as a WDA Coach of the Year.

In a news release, Jamestown High School Activities Director Jim Roaldson said, “Coach Smith will be greatly missed.  He provided a consistent and positive presence within both the boys and girls swim & dive programs while creating opportunities for student-athletes to compete at a high level through dedication, focus, and hard work.”

Roaldson also said that a search will begin to fill both positions immediately.
