JAMESTOWN – Christian Komitas was named Monday as the new head coach for Jamestown Jimmies Men’s Wrestling.

Komitas has been a graduate assistant for the past two seasons for Wisconsin-Parkside, who finished this past season as NCAA Division II team runner-up.

In two seasons, Wisconsin-Parkside brought 12 individual national qualifiers, seven All-Americans and a national champion.  Their 2025 team had an inpressive 3.56 average GPA.

UJ Athletic Director Austin Hieb said, “We’re really excited to welcome Christian to the Jimmie family.  He brings with him knowledge of the NSIC and what it takes to be successful in the league. We cannot wait for him to get campus and to see how he begins to make an impact on our men’s wrestling program and athletic department.”

Komitas said, “I am extremely excited to get to work building a culture of excellence within the Jamestown men’s wrestling program.  I would like to thank Athletic Director Austin Hieb as well as President Polly Peterson for their belief and trust in me.  It was evident from the moment that I stepped foot on campus that the University is full of ambitious, intelligent, and team-oriented individuals. We have all of the resources and support necessary to achieve at a high level, and I look forward to immersing myself in the Jamestown community.”
