JAMESTOWN, N.D. (JDFS) – Jamestown Dollars for Scholars (JDFS), a program of Scholarship America, proudly announced the awarding of sixty-five scholarships totaling $67,500 at the recent Jamestown High School Awards Ceremony on May 6th. Once again, two new milestones were met this spring by awarding a scholarship to every senior who applied and matched and awarding 65 scholarships which exceeds last year’s record of 55 scholarships presented. Eight new scholarships were awarded for the first time, reflecting the extraordinary commitment of the community to supporting education and honoring remarkable individuals.

Over the past year, three scholarship funds were endowed to create perpetual scholarship awards. The legacy left by the James Myers estate endowed the James Myer Career and Technology Center Scholarships which will annually offer three $1,000 scholarships. The friends of Larry Knoblich have endowed a scholarship to honor Larry for his dedication to education, coaching and the community and offer a scholarship (for their freshman and sophomore college years) to a student attending the University of Jamestown. RM Stoudt’s endowed scholarship recognizes a student with a 2.5 GPA or greater who participated in extracurricular activities or has a work history. The Class of 1996 and friends honored the memory of their friend, Robert Merrick, Class of 1999, who passed away too young by creating the Robert Merrick Scholarship. The Lion Pride Scholarship was started to recognize a student who attended Lincoln Elementary for at least three years. Crossroads Repair LLC, Hofmann Trucking LLC, and Scherbenske Inc, each contributed to the expansion of educational support for deserving students by establishing scholarships.
