CITY (NewsDakota.com) – The Valley City State baseball team swept a doubleheader with Presentation College Thursday morning at the Metrodome.

The Vikings scored seven runs in the first inning as they won game one 13-0. Dan Buehner and Brenden Shearer each had four hits in the win, and Shearer added a game-high five RBIs.

In game two, VCSU took the lead for good in the third and held off a Presentation rally in the final inning for a 6-5 victory. Thomas Houdek had two hits and two RBIs in game two to lead VCSU’s offense.

VCSU racked up 30 hits in the doubleheader, compared to just seven total for Presentation College. The Vikings improve to 12-17 on the year. They’re scheduled to play Dickinson State in a pair of doubleheaders Friday and Saturday near Billings, Mont.
