N.D. (AP) – Almost million in federal money will be spent over the next few months to make sure North Dakota’s uninsured residents are aware of their options for coverage under the new federal health care law. North Dakota has about 74,700 people without insurance.
More than half the money will go toward grants for marketing and outreach. About $300,000 will go to health centers in Beulah, Turtle Lake, Fargo and Northwood to help spread the word.
North Dakota isn’t putting any state money toward the effort. The GOP-led Legislature only reluctantly voted this year to expand Medicaid to cover more uninsured residents, and opted to let the federal government run a new state health exchange.
