CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) The Hi-Liners have announced that Waylon Starr, will take over the head coaching duties of the Valley City girls basketball team.
In his seven years with Valley City High School as an educator, Starr has been involved with the girls program as an assistant coach, head coach and athletic director.
Starr started his coaching career at Powers Lake, where he coached both the boys and girls team. More recently he found success as the head coach of the Kindred girls team. During Starr’s time with the Vikings, he led them to two consecutive state tournament appearances, finishing in third and fifth place.
The Hi-Liners girls basketball coaching job became vacant in August when former coach Jim McDaniel stepped down from the position. Starr and the Hi- Liners open the season on December 7th when they host Bismarck St. Mary Central.
