(NewsDakota.com) The Oakes High School basketball teams were swept by the LaMoure-Litchville/Marion Loboes on Saturday.
In the girls contest, Oakes fell 78-32. Oakes (3-10) committed 26 turnovers in the defeat. Sophomore Hailey Visto lead the Tornadoes in scoring with nine points.
The boys of Oakes gave the defending Region III Champions a run for their money early on, leading 16-12 after the first quarter. The Loboes came back, outscouirng the Torandoes (6-9) 16-7 in the final eight minutes to win the game 63-47, ending Oakes’ five game winning streak. Bryce Meehl had 17 points, while Ethan Zetoca added 10. Oakes two losses so far in January have been to teams that made it to the Class B State Tournament last year.
Both the girls and boys of Oakes High will play Fairmount-Campbell-Tintah later this week. The girls play on Thursday in Fairmount against a top 10 team, while the boys will host the Rebels in their final game of District 1 play this season with a shot at earning a first-round home contest in the upcoming District 1 tournament.
Each game will be on KDDR-AM 1220 and NewsDakota.com starting at 7:15 p.m.
