CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) The following elected positions in Barnes County are up for election this year. They are Commissioner Phil Leitner in District #2, Commissioner Eldred Knutson in District #3, Commissioner Rodger Berntson in District #4, Sheriff Randy McClaflin, Treasurer Vicki Zinck, State’s Attorney Carl Martineck, Auditor Beth Didier, and Recorder Jody Pfaff.

Anyone interested in running for one of these offices should go to the Barnes County Auditor’s Office on the second floor of the courthouse at 230 4th Street Valley City.

Each candidate is required to file a petition with the required number of signatures, as well as a statement of interests and an affidavit of candidacy. These forms, as well as information regarding candidate requirements and the required number of signatures for each office, are available inside the auditor’s Office. The deadline for filing the petition with the auditor’s office is 4:00 pm, Monday, April 7.

The North Dakota primary election will be held Tuesday, June 10. The two candidates who receive the most votes for each position in the primary will advance to the general election, which will be held Tuesday, November 4, 2014.
