(NewsDakota.com)- The University of Jamestown men’s basketball had a number of honorees when the North Star Athletic Association postseason hardware was passed out this afternoon. Three players were named to the all-NSAA teams and the Jimmies were the defensive player of the year, Dakota State’s Miguel Sansavour, away from sweeping the five individual awards.

Jamestown won both the regular season and tournament titles during the NSAA’s first season which concluded yesterday with a 72-67 win over the Trojans.

Nobody will be surprised to know that Jimmie senior Mark Hoge was named the North Star MVP and most outstanding senior. Joining Hoge on the first-team was sophomore Brequan Tucker. “Q” was also named the newcomer of the year.

Taylor Newton was selected to the second-team. Newton, the 6’0″ junior from Tyler, MN, was asked to move to from his familiar spot at guard to play forward in the second half of the season.

Head coach Justin Wieck was named the coach of the year, guiding his team from a rough first half (5-11) to a 12-1 second half of the season including a 9-1 record in conference.
