N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The University of Jamestown has put together a committee charged with the task of naming a new Vice President of Academic Affairs and Dean after current Dean Gary Watts announced his retirement.
Paul Olson, Travis Feezell and Nathan Phinney are expected to be shown the University Campus as well as receive a tour of the city of Jamestown.
Dr. Nathan Phinney, a native of Jamestown, graduated with a PhD. in Old Testament from Yale University in 2004. Phinney has been published several times and knows several different languages including German, Syriac, French and Ugaritic. Dr. Phinney has also received several honors including the Yale University Price Teaching Fellowship for teaching excellence. He is currently an Associate Professor at Malone University in Canton, Ohio.
Dr. Paul Olson graduated with a PhD. in Philosophy/Sociology from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He also has a Master of Arts in Religious Studies from the University of Kansas. Dr. Olson has been in several publications including the Journal for the Scientific Study of Religion on several occasions. Dr. Olson’s teaching experience ranges back to 1998 when he became a graduate teaching assistant at the University of Kansas. He is currently the Chair for the Division of Social and Behavioral Sciences and Associate Professor of Sociology at Briar Cliff University in Sioux City, Iowa.
Dr. Travis Feezell graduated with a EdD in Education from the University of Idaho. He also has a Masters in Medieval British Studies from the University of Wales in Great Britain. Dr. Feezell has held numerous Academic positions including Interim Chair for Department of Business and Director of Athletics. He has been published several times in a mix of articles, including Athletics Administration. Dr Feezell is currently the Special Assistant to the President for Strategic Planning, Associate Professor of Business/Division of Professional Studies and Chair, and Elected Chair of the Professional Affairs Committee at Belmont Abbey College in Belmont, North Carolina.
The University hopes to choose their top candidate by April 10th.
