CITY, N.D (NewsDakota.com) Valley City High School handed out Ten Sport Athlete, Academic Achievement, and Boys and Girls Senior Athlete of the Year Awards on Monday afternoon.
Eight student athletes received Ten Sport honors. The award is given to those who participated in ten North Dakota High School Activates Association sports at any level during their high school careers.
Those who accomplished that task were: Dustin Miller, Jack Jensen, Dustin Lindgren, Diera Diegel, Amanda Starr, Jessica Denholm, Sara Gilbertson, and Danica Diegel.
The Academic Excellence Awards were given to Saidee Oberlander and Jamie Ronning. The duo competed in the respective sports while achieving GPA’s of 4.0.
The Boy’s Athlete of the Year Award was given to wrestler Zach Doty. Amongst his accomplishments on the mat this season, was winning the state title in the 182 pound
weight class.
The Girls Athlete of the Year Award was given to Jessica Denholm. She was a three sport athlete who helped lead the Hi-Liners to a 20-16 record on the Volleyball court. On the basketball court, she averaged 11 points a game and finished the season 8th in the EDC with just over two steals a night. On the diamond, Denholm plays center field and pitches for the EDC’s second place Hi-Liners.
