(NewsDakota.com)  The No. 6 seeded Blue Jays opened the 2014 West Region Baseball Tourney yesterday against the No. 3 seeded Bismarck High Demons at the Southside Ball Park and Astoria Field in Dickinson.  The Demons scored five runs in the bottom of the first, three in the third and three in the sixth inning to beat the Jays 11-1 in six innings by the 10-run rule.  Bismarck improves to 17-10 overall and 11-4 in the WDA and Jamestown drops to 12-14 overall and 4-11 in the WDA.

Jamestown did not get a hit until the top of the fifth inning when Juniors Nate Soulis and Scott Nelson each hit a single.  Nelson had an RBI single scoring Shaun Hogan from third, who reached on an error earlier in the inning, it was the only Blue Jay run.  Bismarck’s Senior pitcher Brandon Gieszler picked up the victory going all six innings allowing only three hits and one run with five strikeouts.  Jamestown Senior Tyler Ukestad drops to 1-3 and took the loss with four complete innings of work allowing seven earned runs and two walks.  Tanner Lunzman was the only other Blue Jay to get into the hit column, hitting a single in the sixth inning.  Gieszler was 3 for 4 at the plate with an RBI.

Next up for Jamestown will be today at 1:30pm (2:30pm central) against Williston in a must win for the Blue Jays to keep their season alive.  Pregame will begin about 10 minutes before on AM 1400 KQDJ and newsdakota.com.  Here are the other scores from yesterday:
