N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Police Department wants to warn Jamestown residents about a convicted sex offender living within the city.
Roger Patrick McAvoy has been assigned a high risk assessment by the North Dakota Risk Level Committee. In 1989, McAvoy was charged with Gross Sexual Imposition after he struck up a relationship with a 12 year-old girl that led up to fondling and digital penetration.
McAvoy was charged with Sexual Assault on a Child in 1995 when he sexually assaulted two girls, ages 13 and 14, touching them inappropriately. He is currently on probation with North Dakota Parole and Probation.
Roger McAvoy is not wanted at this time by officers. This information is only for notification and public safety and is not meant to increase fear in the community. Any attempt to use this information to threaten, assault or intimidate the offender will be up for prosecution.
