Cope, age 57, of Valley City, ND, formerly of Everett, WA, died Saturday, August 22nd in Valley City.  A memorial service will be held at 7:00 PM Thursday, August 27th at the Lerud Schuldt Funeral Home Chapel in Valley City.  Visitation will be held on Thursday evening one hour before the service at the funeral home.

Marilyn Marlene Cope, the daughter of Ernie and Helen (Aldrich) Cope, was born May 19, 1958 in Everett, WA.  Marilyn grew up and attended school in the Everett area.  In 1976, Marilyn graduated from Everett High School.  On October 8, 1977 Marilyn enlisted in the US Army and served in Germany until her discharge on May 20, 1980.  After her discharge from the Army, Marilyn returned to Everett, WA where she worked for the US Postal Service.  She later worked for Everett Transit as a bus driver and later for the Washington State Department of Transportation as an equipment operator.  Marilyn moved to North Dakota in 2010.  While in North Dakota she worked for Ten K Trucking as a long haul driver, Cenex as a transport driver and recently at the Barnes County Senior Center as a cook.  Marilyn loved playing softball, fishing, hard work and spending time with people.  She was a very proud grandma that loved to spend time with her family.  Marilyn was a member of the VFW and the Valley City Eagles Club.

Marilyn is survived by her daughter, Denise (fiancée Chris Orthman) Cope, Valley City, ND; two grandsons, Treylan and Brockston; one brother, Bill Cope; two sisters, Linda (Burt) Wahlgren and Candy Langston, both Marysville, WA; and the father of Denise, Kevin Klein, Valley City, ND.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents.
