CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Mayville State University spoiled Valley City State University’s homecoming on Saturday with a 14-13 win. 

The Comets got within one point after Andrew Blake threw a 16 yard touchdown to Chris Mayes with 9:14 left to go in the fourth quarter. Mayville State elected to go for the two-point conversion and succeeded when Blake hit L.J. Morris in the back of the end zone. 

VCSU’s lone touchdown came in the second quarter when Kurtis Walls hit Colby Lum for a 27 yard reception. 

VCSU drops to 3-3 overall and 1-2 in the North Star, while Mayville State improves to 4-1 overall and 2-0 in the North Star.
