We’re all lit up! The Guelph (ND) Community Center has recently updated to LED lighting in the entire former school building, so we’re ready to light the way for you to our annual Turkey BBQ Fun Day on Sunday, July 20. The highlight of the day will be the BBQ turkey meal with all of the trimmings, prepared and served by volunteers throughout the two communities in our air-conditioned gym. Serving will begin at 11:30 am, and tickets may be purchased at the northwest entrance door of the school building. Take-out orders will also be available by calling the Community Center at 783-4381. Those with a sweet tooth may also enjoy homemade pie and ice cream for a free-will donation.
Visitors will enjoy viewing the four museum rooms of Guelph history in the school building, a band concert at 12:00 noon in the gym, a veterans’ recognition, “Shine and Show” car/truck/tractor, vehicle show on site with registration at 11:00 am, opening of the 2000 4-H time capsule, and a silent basket auction. This year there will be a raffle for two quilts on display near the entrance. A live auction of 10 items will be available for those in attendance. In addition, there will be 20 items in an on-line auction that anyone can participate in. Check out the “Off the Shuelph at Guelph” Facebook page for photos and directions on how to bid on these on-line items.
Families will enjoy the new play system that was recently installed on the south side of the gym. Fund-raising has been on-going for several years for this play system,
and it is finally a reality! Thank you to all who have supported our projects these last two years to make it happen. Proceeds from this year’s BBQ will go toward the LED lighting project.
Follow the light, and we’ll see you at Guelph on Sunday, July 20.
