Jamestown Dispatches Watford City In West Region Baseball Play-In
JAMESTOWN – The Jamestown Blue Jays didn’t want much trouble in their A West Region baseball play-in game Monday. One big inning assured that they wouldn’t have any trouble.
A five-run third inning led Jamestown to a 10-0 win over Watford City Monday at Jack Brown Stadium and advanced the Blue Jays to a quarterfinal game Thursday with Bismarck Legacy.
A two-run double by Thomas Newman was all that was needed for Jamestown (9-12), but Bennett Goehner followed with an RBI single and Ethan Oettle brought in two more with a double.
Jaxon Kolpin had an RBI single in a three-run fourth inning. Tyson Jorissen walked with the bases loaded in the fifth, followed by a run-scoring passed ball that ended the game.
Kolpin allowed just one hit in five innings, striking out four.
Jamestown will play Legacy on Thursday in the A West Region quarterfinal round at Corbett Field in Minot. Coverage will begin at around 1:15 PM on The Voice of the Blue Jays, Jamestown 107.1.
