CITY  (NewsDakota.com)–The Hi-Liner cross-country teams ran incomplete in their latest action, which was in Moorhead this past weekend.

Valley City ran just two varsity runners in both the boys and girls categories, finishing without a team score in the event hosted by West Fargo Saturday.

Nick Lee and Andrew Kawasaki entered boys competition, and finished 44th and 54th, respectively.  In girls action, April Bernston finished 15th and Barbara Zubrod was 27th.

Head coach Brian Engelhard says runners were held for “precautionary measures with some nagging injuries and illness” that hit his team last week.  He expects the return of at least one more varisty boys runner and two more girls runners this week.

The Hi-Liners will host a mini-meet of four teams at the Valley City Town and Country Club this Saturday.  The date was to be a full invitational at Bjornson Park, the site of this year’s state competition, which would have drawn several hundred runners.  The meet was scrapped due to the chronic flooding of the Sheyenne River at Bjornson.
