CITY, N.D (NewsDakota.com) Despite the high school wrestling season having come to an end there are still awards and acknowledgement’s being handed out to the Hi-Liner’s grapplers.

In a recent Valley City School board meeting, 182 pound State Champion Zach Doty was recognized for his outstanding career on the mats at VCHS. During his time with the Hi-Liners, Doty racked up 170 career wins. In his last season he held the #1 rank in his weight class the entire year before winning 9 straight matches to claim the Class A state title on February 15th.

Along with Doty’s recent accolades, Hi-Liners seventh grader Jaden Oestrern and sixth grader Parker Larson are also receiving praise for their recent efforts.  The Duo will represent Valley City and North Dakota in the upcoming Elementary and Middle School Duals being held April 11-13th in Council Bluffs, Iowa.

Oestern qualified for the North Dakota team by finishing in second place in the 195 pound weight class last weekend at the Mandan Qualifying Tournament.

At the same meet, Larson earned his spot on the team by claiming the title at 100 pounds.
