(NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Blue Jay volleyball team picked up a opening round in the West Round volleyball tournament over Mandan, 3-1 (17-25, 25-20, 27-25, 25-19).

The Jays came out flat in the first set and Mandan controlled the tempo to take an early 1-0 advantage. But, Jamestown rebounded midway through the second set to take control and they never relinquished it.

Mackenzie Clark paced Jamestown with 15 kills.

Jamestown will play Century at 5pm on Friday for a spot in the state tournament and the West Region title match. Should they lose, the road to state got a lot tougher when St. Mary’s upset Legacy. The Sabers would most likely be waiting for Jamestown in a state qualifier on Saturday.

Jamestown is 0-2 against Century and Legacy.
