City, N.D. – A decades old livestock sales barn on east main in Valley City was burned on Thursday night.
Nearly 100 people watched the controlled burn conducted by the Valley City fire department while several other motorists drove by to view the fire.
Some people shared their memories with others on their experience of buying and selling livestock or working at the facility which had a few owners over the decades of operation.
NewsDakota.com reporter Steve Urness remembers riding a horse out of the arena after his grandfather purchased the animal during an auction.
Lifelong Valley City resident Dale Sather said he and his family sold horses from their nearby barn just east of the livestock barn.
The latest owners, a Triple “S” family member also shared their memories of the business as it burned on Thursday.
City officials said as on Thursday the property is still for sale and so far their are no future plans for the site.
