CITY (NewsDakota.com) Future court fees assessed by the municipal judge, collected from defendants who plead guilty will now go to the Abused Persons Outreach Center in Valley City to support their programs.

City Attorney Russ Myhre said a $25 fee is usually assessed by the city judge. He said the law specifies that the money, once collected is to be sent to the city auditor monthly via of a check.

The city commission adopted a resolution to approve the process at Tuesday’s meeting.  Previously cash from court fees was collected and placed in a safe on city property.
