(NewsDakota.com) The road has been rough for the Oakes High School boys basketball team this season, as the Tornadoes have yet to register a victory away from home this season. Unfortunally, this trend continued on Tuesday night in Wyndmere, as the Tornadoes fell to the Wyndmere/Lidgerwood Warbirds by the score of 65-42.

The Tornadoes were down 14-5 at the end of the first quarter, but were able to settle in later in the game after brining in Victor Cordova to start the second half off the bench.

“We started Victor because we needed to match the amount of size (Wyndmere/Lidgerwood) have. ” said Oakes head coach Brandon Bata. “Tanner Zetocha worked his tail off, he was physical, he moved his feet well, and my hats off to him because he played a heck of a defensive game tonight.”

Oakes was lead in scoring once again via a solid performance from Zetocha, who had a team high 12 points, and Cordova had a season high 11, all coming in the second two quarters

The road trip continues for Oakes (1-13 0-4 District 1), as they head east to Hankinson to battle the Pirates in another District 1 contest on Friday night. Coverage on KDDR-AM 1220 and NewsDakota.com starts around 7:15 Friday night, with tip set for around 7:30 p.m.
