N.D. (AP) – Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem says he
thinks the North Dakota Supreme Court will quickly take up the
dispute over the University of North Dakota’s Fighting Sioux
nickname. The Board of Higher Education wants to stop a referendum
vote on a state law that says UND has to use the nickname.
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – The head of North Dakota’s university
system says Dickinson State’s practice of giving degrees to foreign
students who didn’t earn them isn’t widespread. William Goetz
says the problem was limited almost exclusively to students
from China who attended Dickinson State.
GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) – Hockey supporters taking steps to raise
$7 million for a new Grand Forks arena that would give young hockey
players and figure skaters more chances to practice, and allow for
more youth hockey tournaments. The city already has four rinks, but
it also has about 1,500 youth hockey players.
LEMMON, S.D. (AP) – A group that promotes family farms and
environmental protection is holding a pair of meetings later this
month on Bakken oil development. The February 28th meetings in
Lemmon, South Dakota and Hettinger, North Dakota will discuss the
project’s social and economic impacts.
