(NewsDakota.com) The project completed last year to raise Dickey County Road 3 west of Oakes has affected funding to make improvements on the same road east of Oakes. That is according to Dickey County Commissioner Gary White, who spoke at the Oakes City Council’s regular monthly meeting last week.

White told the Council the work that was needed on the west side project has depleted the funding to fix up the road on the east side. According to White, the Commission is looking at grinding up the pavement and leaving it unpaved instead of replacing and repairing the asphalt.

Dickey County is also continuing work to try to improve drainage on the west side project.

In other news, the council approved a game of chance permit for Oakes Golden Age for bingo, and approved gaming site authorizations for American Legion and OEI.

The Council also learned the repairs and clean-up to the cemetery have not started yet, but are expected to commence soon. The Council also approved $30,000 to be spent to update monitoring for the City’s water treatment plant.
