N.D. (AP) – Two renovation projects are getting under way at the North Dakota Capitol building in Bismarck. The million effort includes cleaning and repairing the building’s limestone exterior and the wood and brass inside the House and Senate chambers. Work should be done by late July.

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) – A Maddock man with multiple felony convictions was ordered to spend more than eight years in prison after he pleaded guilty to illegal weapons charges. Pertoskie Williams was convicted of having a stolen gun. He was also convicted of illegally possessing the weapon.

CROSBY, N.D. (AP) – A multimillion-dollar project will bring better-quality drinking water to portions of northwest North Dakota. Workers broke ground on the Western Area Water Supply Project yesterday. It’s expected to be done by the end of 2014 and could eventually serve 75,000 people.

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) – The oldest wood-framed church in Grand Forks was reduced to rubble yesterday. Authorities say the 107-year-old church had to be torn down because it had asbestos and lead-based paint. It hasn’t been used since before a 1997 flood.
