N.D. (AP) A new road has been completed at Clausen Springs Park west of Kathryn in Barnes County this summer. It’s the final piece of a restoration project after the park was hit hard by spring flooding in 2009.

Barnes County Park Board member Bobby Koepplin says the Federal Emergency Management Agency paid most of the nearly $350,000 improvement cost.

Kathryn residents were evacuated for a few days in April of 2009 after flooding eroded the dam’s spillway. The National Guard made emergency repairs to the spillway until a contractor made complete repairs to the spillway a year ago.
