(NewsDakota.com) The Fargo Oak Grove Grovers and Milnor Bison are each one step closer to a trip to Minot next week for the state tournament after they won very competitive games in the semi-finals of the Class B Region I Tournament on Tuesday night in Wahpeton.

Oak Grove 69 Maple Valley 66

In the first semi-final, the Grovers started much hotter than the Raiders, as they had a 14 point lead at one point, but slowly the Raiders found their legs, and thanks in large part to Jordan Haseleu, made it a game down the stretch; outscoring the Grovers 24-16 in the final four minutes.

Oak Grove had 20 points from Alex Widmer to send the Grovers back to the Regional Title game.

Milnor 80 Central Cass 73

The lone team remaining from District 1 had a lead of 22 points in the first quarter, and still had a healthy 19 point lead going to the second half. However, just as in the first game, the team that was trailing at the half administered a comeback in the second half. Central Cass was able to pull within a single point in the fourth quarter, but the Bison held on for the wire-to-wire victory.

Milnor had 28 points from Wyatt Mund, Central Cass had 33 points courtesy of Ellery Bresnahan.

Thursday’s play starts with the third place game between Central Cass and Maple Valley set for 6 p.m., to be followed by the Championship game pitting Milnor and Oak Grove. Q101.1FM and NewsDakota.com will have coverage of the third place game, starting at 5:45 p.m. Thursday night.
