CITY (NewsDakota.com) – The Maple Valley and Central Cass girls will meet for the championship of the District 2 Tournament on Monday night at the Fargo Civic Center.

The Raiders and Squirrels both won their semifinal contest on Saturday night, setting up their championship match-up at about 7:30 p.m. Monday.

No. 2 seed Maple Valley edged No. 3 Kindred by a score of 56-51 in the semifinals behind 20 points from Cassie Pautz and 18 from Megan Kasowski. Maple Valley’s leading scorer Rylee Nudell was held to a season-low three points against the tough defense of Kindred’s Kellie Schmit.

In the first semifinal, Central Cass coasted to the championship with a 52-31 win over Enderlin. The Squirrels led 25-9 at halftime, and cruised in the second half.

In loser-out play, Oak Grove beat Richland 71-30 and Northern Cass edged Finley-Sharon/Hope-Page 71-57.

Monday’s action begins at 4:30 p.m. with a region qualifier between Oak Grove and Kindred. At about 6 p.m., Northern Cass and Enderlin square off in a region qualifier. The championship is slated to begin at about 7:30 p.m. between Central Cass and Maple Valley.

The final two games Monday can be heard on Q101.1. Brian Willhide will have the call.
